POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Unit Tax Manager is responsible for ensuring tax Compliance of the UK/EU entities providing guidance on all tax matters. He/she will work collaboratively to maintain and ensure robust tax controls, tax policies, and tax procedures are in place. The role also provides guidance to the Business Unit senior management on tax matter and expected changes to legislative tax regime. The position also oversees transfer pricing arrangements ensuring policies are in compliance and are accounted for correctly in the legal entities. The role is part of the UK and EU Finance team based in London and Cyprus, assisting with group matters where required.

Responsibilities include:

Reporting:

  • Preparation of month end tax calculations for Business Unit entities UK and EU.
  • Transfer pricing compliance and calculations.
  • Review of loss utilisation, group relief and overall ETR review.
  • Coordination with external advisors for year-end current and deferred tax calculations
  • Preparation of tax notes for financial statements and liaising with external auditors.

Direct Tax compliance:

  • Liaise with external advisors on the preparation and filing of UK corporate tax returns
  • Manage Business Unit losses and group relief claims
  • Calculation of quarterly instalment payments
  • Oversight for EU entities, ensuring filing and payment deadlines are met
  • Ownership and design of processes, risks and controls

 VAT & GST:

  • VAT return compliance and VAT journals for UK VAT group, including partial exemption
  • Liaise with external advisors on the preparation and filing of UK VAT returns.
  • Advise on adhoc VAT queries as required
  • Oversight for non EU entities VAT & GST requirements

Employment tax:

  • Liaise with HR and Finance teams to coordinate the preparation of P11Ds by external payroll
  • Prepare and file annual PSA return, liaising with Finance and HR teams to ensure all reportable items are included

Transfer pricing;

  • Monitor and update transfer pricing arrangements for UK and EU entities.
  • Maintain Master and Local file. Monitor new documentation across jurisdictions
  • Ensure all intercompany agreements are up to date and reflect current business operations.
  • Ensure transfer pricing arrangements are properly accounted for in each legal entity.

FATCA / CRS

  • Preparation and UK filing of annual IRS, FATCA & CRS reporting (assistance from external advisors)
  • Assisting onboarding team with (adhoc) queries relating to WHT, FATCA / CRS status and W8 forms

Qualifications:

  • Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) or equivalent accounting qualification e.g. ACA/ACCA
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance and Tax related field.
  • ~7 years post chartered experience in a similar role within the financial services industry, preferably with an understanding of financial instruments, FinTech, trading platforms.

  • Knowledge of tax reporting in an FCA regulatory reporting environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with a track record of building and developing finance teams is essential.
